LV Switchboards & Distribution

R&R Engineering design and manufacture a comprehensive range of Low Voltage Switchboards, Motor Control Centres (MCCs) and Control Panels. All products are Type Tested to BS EN 60439-1:1999, and our production facility operates to BS EN ISO 9001:2000, ensuring consistent quality from design through to delivery. Mechanical and electrical design is carried out using the latest CAD technology, supported by a standards library of over 10,000 pre-engineered modules. This allows us to respond quickly and accurately to customer requirements while maintaining the highest engineering standards.

Power Distribution & Switchgear
Our switchgear range is built on a Type Tested Assembly (TTA) platform, offering a modular, flexible solution for power distribution across a wide range of applications. Key features include:

  • 3- and 4-pole busbar systems rated up to 7,400A
  • Rated peak withstand current up to 375kA
  • Standardised busbar position at the top of the cubicle
  • Modular device compartments suitable for any component configuration
  • Single-front and back-to-back installation options
  • Cable entry from above or below
  • Compartmentalisation from Form 1 to Form 4 in accordance with BS EN 60439-1
  • Wall-mounted or free-standing configurations available

Motor Control Centres
MCCs are manufactured in individual tiers to maximise flexibility and are available in a full range of fault level tested configurations:

  • 26kA for 1 second
  • 50kA for 1 second
  • 50kA for 3 seconds
  • 80kA for 1 second

Full ASTA certification is available, including Corner Sections and Busbar Bridges. Our standard design is Form 4 Type 2 and 3, with Types 1 to 7 available to suit specific project requirements.Configuration options include front and rear access, front access only, and back-to-back with front access. Top and bottom cable entry is available across all options.

Control Panels
R&R Engineering manufactures custom Control Panels to suit a wide variety of applications. IP54 enclosures are available as standard in wall-mounted or floor-standing configurations, with IP ratings up to IP66 available using proprietary enclosures. Control desks are also available where required.
Panels can range from single starters — including Direct On Line (DOL), Autostarter (ASD), Soft Start and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) — through to complex multi-starter process control systems. Our engineering team has experience across a broad range of industries and will ensure your panel meets all relevant requirements of BS EN 60439-1:1999, the Low Voltage Directive and the EMC Directive.

Delivery & Installation
Delivery and installation is a critical stage of any contract, and R&R Engineering’s trained teams are equipped to handle every aspect — from a single wall-mounted enclosure to a major floor-standing Motor Control Centre.
Prior to any work commencing, a team of supervisors is available for consultation to agree installation methods and delivery timings. Site surveys can be carried out to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective approach is taken.

All assemblies are designed with installation in mind:

  • Integral low-level lifting facilities as standard, without the need for traditional eye bolts
  • Single-column delivery available where site access demands it
  • Assembled lengths of up to 6 metres available to minimise installation time and on-site re-assembly

Re-assembly at site is a specialist operation, and R&R Engineering provides this service on request — giving you the assurance that equipment enters service exactly as intended, with full certification to confirm it.
